Where’s my good stuff?’ It takes more work to have them exit it than to go in.” “They get so reinforced in there and stay. Both leopards had mild coughs but have nearly made a full recovery, said Lisa Peterson, executive director of the Safari Park. The news comes days after the zoo learned that both of its snow leopards, Ramil and Naphisa, had COVID-19. Three of the other tigers are also showing symptoms of COVID-19, mainly coughing and low energy, and all of them are being closely monitored. Staffers then noticed that he was coughing slightly. Keepers first suspected something was amiss when Rakan - a 300-pound, 4-year-old male - seemed sluggish and wasn’t scarfing down meals with his usual gusto. On Monday, the Safari Park learned that five of its six Sumatran tigers have coronavirus infections after testing stool samples from the animals. Recent events have given these efforts fresh urgency. Who’s going to get there first: vaccine or virus?” Hendrik Nollens, who leads the veterinary teams for the zoo and Safari Park. “We’re in a very similar situation to where us humans were just a few months ago, when vaccines were available,” said Dr. By the end of this week, zookeepers will have doled out first doses to roughly 250 animals, many of them endangered species. And with lots of training and treats.Īs coronavirus cases surge throughout the region, the San Diego Zoo and the Safari Park are hustling to immunize an array of animals that could give Noah’s Ark a run for its money, including tigers, Vervet monkeys, hyenas and other critters that the staff thinks could be vulnerable to the virus. I think that this would be a fun truck to own and drive on the weekends. This one has an “Edelbrock torker aluminum intake manifold and Edelbrock four barrel carb”. Obviously I’m not tuned into the appropriate car culture in 2018 that would have a black engine compartment and interior on such an otherwise cool and colorful truck. I think it could use some color in there, too, but that’s just me. Here’s where a lot of the fun part comes in, this “strong running 327 ci Chevy V8”. There is almost no information given at all as to how this truck functions other than “vehicle is sold as a running and driving project”, but they do say that it’s “fun to drive” and that’s pretty important. But it has the essentials, or essential, which is a Hurst floor shift 4-speed manual transmission. I would loved to have seen a similar color to the exterior on the inside, it’s a bit dark in there. Speaking of that, here is Scotty G’s pro parking tip: always park in the first spot on the downward side of a cart corral in a parking lot to keep runaway carts from rolling into your ride.Īfter the good exterior photos I’m a bit surprised to see such dark interior photos. At this price it could be a fun driver without having to worry too much about it getting it dusty or having a runaway shopping cart roll into it. It does have new parts like a new wood bed, new windshield gasket, new master cylinder, etc., and the chassis has been modified to lower it a bit. The seller, Johnny’s Garage, says that this is a “stock pickup truck body” with “real old patina paint” so that answers the is-it-real question. Maybe just get one of each, it’s only money. A nice, shiny, light teal blue ’57 pickup would also be hard to beat. or a little of both, but it sure looks good to me. I’m not sure if the patina (i.e., faded paint) seen here is real or if it was created in a lab of scientists. This truck has such a cool look to it, at least in my opinion it does. It’s located in beautiful Sacramento, California. This pastel patina pickup is listed on eBay with a current bid price of just over $10,000 and there is no reserve. Sometimes a vehicle looks like it was found in a barn but it’s been mechanically-updated, like this 1957 Chevrolet 3100 pickup. Barn Finds is famous for showing vehicles that were found in barns, garages, sheds, under tarps, in pole buildings, etc., and/or otherwise have been in storage for decades. 1957 CHEVY TRUCK PATINA RATROD LIKE 1955 1956 1958 1959 SHOPTRUCK CALIFORNIA. To get the right length of the inner cable I fully extended the nose and soldered about one or two centimeters of the protruding end of the outer cable and cut of the unneeded part (with soldering you avoid the inner cable to untwist) As push/pull lever I used a small brass tube (using a dedicated tube cutter instead of a saw results in much cleaner and precise cuts). The length of the slot was given by the travel way of the nose tip. I cut a slot into a small plastik tube, just wide enough to gide some welding wire, but to narrow to let the inner cable out. After giving a electrical solution some serious thought I left that path (still happy with it) and went down the mechanical one and used a bicycle break cable. To make it possible for the actor to control the nose, I needed a simple solution to extend and retract the nose secretly. I added a picture (a enlarged part of my panoramic shot) of the pumps and the packging. It's branded "Fischer" and comes most probably from China. It was a really cheap telescopic plastic pump from our local DIY-store. I'm getting a lot of questions about the kind/brand of pump I used. After toying around a bit with all the different materials I focused on the bike pump and the bike break cable. I came back to the workshop with various sets of tubes in different sizes and materials, a bicycle pump and some break cables, a pirates toy telescope and a light sabre. With that basic idea in mind I set out to spend some quality time in my favourite DIY supplies shop, as well as in various toy and bicycles shops. All this leaded to the basic idea to build a kind of telescope and a mechanism to push it out and pull it back in. To get to the key elements of the nose took me a lot of googling around, lots of emails and phonecalls with other prop and makeup departments. To give you an idea of the tools I worked with I made a panoramic shot of my workbench in about mid-project (it tended to look worse to the end of the project). The most important were a dremel and 2-component glue. You have to either ask the theatre (but to my knowledge the will not rent/or sell abroad) or to build one by yourself. I would gladly see what you made!Īnd as stated in my profile: I don't own this mask/nose, it belongs to the theatre, I built it for and I don't work in that theater anymore. Please leave me a picture of your successful build in the comments. It seems, that a lot of people try on building such a nose with the help of this instructable, which is a great honour for me. Above you see the very first of these prototypes, the rehearsal mask and the (almost) final mask. Over the time of about two months, I built various prototypes and two final noses, because when doing double shows, it's nice to have second (dry) mask to put on for the second show of the day. I agreed to do the technical part and makeup did the design part. It was very clear, that neither the makeup department, nor the props department could do this all alone, so we joined forces. Our director wanted to have the nose growing and shrinking visibly on stage without anyone touching it. A lot of theatres do this part of the play in a way that the actor has an extra nose he puts on in this moment, or he pulls the point of his nose to make it longer or they just do nothing at all. As probably most of you now, it's the story of a little wooden puppet becoming a real boy, and while still in his wooden stage, his nose is growing longer and longer, when he's telling a lie. In autumn 2015 it was the nose for Pinocchio. Nikka’s Yoichi and Miyagikyo produce the remaining malt and grain whiskies in this blend.Ĭheck out my Nikka from the Barrel review to learn more.Whiskybase B.V. It’s important to note that some of the whisky in From the Barrel comes from Scotland, likely the Nikka-owned Ben Nevis Distillery. Prices of this blended Nikka have been inching up, but it’s still a borderline good buy for the quality. It was also launched that year in the US, bumping up from 500 ml to a more standard 750 ml volume. In 2018, it was awarded Whisky of the Year by Whisky Advocate. Nikka Whisk’s From the Barrel has long been a solid value in the Japanese whisky category. Finally, hints of smoke and tobacco add some balance. Fruity and malt-based characteristics include bruised apple, caramelized plantain, banana, ripe peach, lemon peel, honey, and toasted sourdough. Tasting notes include caramel, toffee, butterscotch, brown sugar, cinnamon, and walnut. It has a supple, long finish that hides its 51.5% abv fairly well. The tasting profile leans dark and sweet. The company has poured vast resources into increasing production, so let’s hope they make a return in the next decade or two!įrom the Barrel is a bronze whisky of moderate aromatic intensity. In 2015, Nikka discontinued most of the Miyagikyo lineup, including the 10 Year, 12 Year, and 15 Year Single Malt whiskies. Since, Coffee Malt, Gin, and Vodka have been released. This corn-dominated product was an immediate hit. In 2012 the “Coffey” line was introduced with Nikka Coffey Grain Whisky. The column stills provide a lot of grain whisky for Nikka’s blends, plus a little malt. The old-school design is less efficient than modern multi-column stills, and provides a rich mouthfeel, with a few more congeners. These “Coffey” stills were imported from Scotland in 1963. Its pure, soft water and higher elevation lead to a lighter and fruitier profile for its whiskies.īesides the pot stills at the Miyagikyo facilities, there are a pair of dual-column continuous stills. Miyagikyo is tucked away in Miyagi’s mountains to the west of Sendai. Nikka further expanded in 1969 with the founding of the Miyagikyo (宮城峡) Distillery. Want to learn more? Take a look at my Nikka Yoichi single malt whisky review. This isn’t a collector whisky, but it certainly demands shelf space for the Japanese whisky connoisseur. Prices for this single malt Nikka start around $80 US. The palate for this Nikka is dry and carries a long finish. Other notes include lemon zest, raisin, savory and roasted malt, almond, milk chocolate, vanilla, and cedar. These aren’t to the levels of a typical Islay Scotch but are noticeable for a Japanese whisky. A moderate level of (Scottish-sourced) peated malt brings smoky, medicinal, and briny notes. Nikka’s Yoichi NAS Single Malt was released in 2016 and carries the hallmark characteristics that the fabled distillery’s brands are known for. The only whisky remaining is the NAS Yoichi single malt, but that’s still pretty good. Instead of trickling out a few of them, like rival Suntory, Nikka decided to eliminate their entire lineup. The Japanese whisky boom has not been kind to Yoichi’s lineup of age statement single malt whiskies. How well do you know Linux? Empty out the bulb around 3 times a day and be sure to record how much fluid was removed. Your drains will collect excess blood and fluid during the first 3 to 10 days. Be gentle with your incisions and clean with only soapy water and a soft cloth. When you decide to take your first post-op shower, be sure to use cool water and try not to stand for a significant amount of time. It takes a few days for the incisions to close completely, so sponge baths are a safer option during this time. Patients should not shower for about 48 hours after surgery. Contact your surgeon right away if you experience any swelling or abnormal levels of discomfort. However, the soreness isn’t any different than what most would typically expect from surgery. Patients may experience slight discomfort around their drains for about a week after the procedure. By tending to drains and caring for them correctly, patients can enjoy a smoother recovery process. Removing this fluid helps prevent infection and other potential complications. These small tubes have an attached bulb that helps drain excess fluid from around the treatment area. Tummy tuck drains are post-op devices that help patients avoid fluid buildup around the incision and treatment site after tummy tuck surgery. In this blog post, we’ll answer some of the questions most commonly asked by our patients. Patients who are more informed about tummy tuck drains and understand how they work can better advocate for themselves during their recovery. But many patients have questions about tummy tuck drains and don’t know how to care for them. Drains are used after tummy tucks in our Guilford, CT, practice to help patients heal cleanly and safely. However, it is an extensive surgery and often requires a more challenging recovery period. If your work requires heavy lifting or strenuous activity, you will need to wait at least four to six weeks.Tummy tuck surgery is known for toning the midsection and creating flattering, transformative results. You may be able to drive and return to a desk job as early as two weeks after a tummy tuck. In general, you should not drive until you’ve been off of your prescription pain medication for at least 24 hours and can safely operate a vehicle in traffic. Driving & Returning to Workīefore you drive or return to work, it’s best to get your surgeon’s approval at a follow-up visit. You can also try to sleep in a recliner, if you have one, to maintain the proper position. When you get out of bed, you should turn on your side first and/or have someone support your back. How to Sleepįor the first few days after surgery, you should sleep on your back or side and place pillows under your knees to take the pressure off of your abdominal muscles. However, you should avoid any strenuous activity or motion with excessive force until three months after surgery. You can gradually start increasing your physical activity six weeks after your tummy tuck. Lifting: For the first four to six weeks, you should not lift anything over 10 pounds.Bending and squatting: For six weeks after surgery, you should avoid or ease into these positions as they may be strain your incision line. After three weeks, you should be able to walk normally, but not forcefully. Walking: Expect to spend plenty of time resting the first few days after your tummy tuck, with the exception of walking around the house to maintain healthy circulation. Do not soak in a bathtub, pool, or hot tub until your incisions heal or your surgeon says it’s okay. You can resume a daily shower two days after surgery. You may be most comfortable wearing loose-fitting pants, such as drawstring pajama pants or dresses. Initially, you will want to avoid clothing that digs into your waist. You can stop wearing it shortly after your drains are removed around one to two weeks after surgery. You should always wear your compression garment except when showering or washing it. You will also wear a compression garment around your abdomen to prevent fluid buildup and to support you while you heal. What to WearĪfter your tummy tuck procedure, you will have a light bandage over your incisions (cuts). You will be able to start scar massage and use scar tapes or creams to minimize the appearance of your scar at least three weeks after surgery. Your drains will remain in place until we remove them in a follow-up visit around one to two weeks after surgery. We will show you how to do this before you leave the hospital. You will need to empty your drains several times a day. During your tummy tuck, we will place small drainage tubes near your incision to stop fluid from building up in that area while you heal. |
